dubbel zwaardvormThe traditional northern Eagle Claw style of Kungfu is a excellent sport to stay fit physically. Kungfu can be trained by everyone just as a sport, a kind of self-defense  or an art. The Eagle Claw style is famous because of its powerful gripping techniques.  By practicing this style you will strengthen your power and improve your technical skills to grab, break or tear muscles, bones, conjunctions  or nerve points.  Important is to control the opponent. This can be done by getting the opponent off balance and holding him or her in the correct grip. It is not needed to be very powerful to make use of this kind of defense, moreover the use of the various exercises and techniques are essential to strengthen your hands.

The effectiveness of the Eagle Claw is based on the power of the finger, its conjunctions, wrist and leg techniques. An advanced student of the Eagle Claw- techniques can control its opponent without conflicting injuries, only when needed, unfortunately. Sometimes, one has to be hard as a mountain and then one has to be flexible as feather in the wind.

Some basic principle of training the Eagle techniques are:

    •    Using the power of the opponent,
    •    Using techniques instead of the of brute force.

It is important to know that Kungfu movements have to performed with a certain rhythm. This will stimulate the co-ordination of your muscles and brain functions. For example your will have lesser chance of pains in your conjunctions and your memory will be stimulated. Next to this, your bones will also be stronger because of the different movements which stress your bones. Thanks to Kungfu you will improve your movements and to achieve this by develop your will power and self discipline. When the will power is strong and pointed at training body and spirit, your self-confidence will grow. This had many advantages in daily live, such as taking initiatives or speak in public, etcetera.
A Kungfu form takes about one minute and you will use more than one hundred muscles. This form is an essential part of the Kungfu training, you will enhance the preciseness of your movements, which, of course will improve your power, co-ordination, flexibility, condition. You can relax stress built up daily.  By training your forms it is important to realize you will have to do this fluently and practically. Do not be distracted and do not think you have to believe in your movements or think you are meditating. You will become self confident and feel great!
